Summary of the project
It is becoming more and more noticeable that the time the teenagers spend on Internet is getting bigger until it becomes excessive. Teenagers and young people are the most affected by “virtual life” which gets to completely eliminate the real one. Why is this life more “tempting” or ”simpler”? Is it a life or just a substitute, a surrogate? Numerous studies demonstrate that the mind of young people becomes dependent on the state of passivity, nonconcentration and neglect that has been induced daily through activities carried out in front of the computer. According to a study, it has been found that over 78% of respondents (children between 7-18 years old) use the Internet daily . How it gets addictive? The same as in the case of substances or certain behaviors (smoking, gambling, bullying, shopping). At first, it’s a curiosity, a “fun”, an exit from monotony, “something new”, pleasant, exciting. As time passes, it steals our time, it captures us little by little, the pleasure grows bigger, but with it and the need for more. Entering into this world implies, of course, leaving the ordinary world, abandoning old activities, people in our lives. The new “passion” leaves behind friends, relatives, work, school, sports, pleasures, interests and fun of the past.
Time 2B Offline is a Youth Exchange project which aims to prevent Internet addiction behavior among 30 young people aged 16-22 from 5 countries: Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey and Armenia.
Most of the project’s activities will be carried out outdoors using non-formal education methods such as debates, brainstorming, role-play, treasure hunt, interactive games, games that stimulate creativity, communication and trust, and will create the opportunity for young people to inter-relate, to express themselves freely, to be closer to one another.
Objectives
1. A main objective of the project is that young participants identify the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet, by the end of the exchange.
2. Another important objective is that the 30 young participants have a better understanding of the effects the Internet has on their social life, by the end of the 8-month project.
3. The third main objective is that the 30 young people identify alternative activities for spending time, by the end of the exchange.

About the venue
The project will take place in the beautiful mountain village of Bran, which is located about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the nearby city of Brasov.
The village of Bran is often overshadowed by the medieval fortress that sits above it. The medieval Bran Castle became known worldwide due to its striking resemblance to Dracula’s Castle, as depicted in Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula novel, published in 1897. But the commune of Bran itself has a lot to offer to visitors. This charming, medieval town has lots of old buildings and is surrounded by natural beauty.
We will be accommodated at a local pension in the middle of nature, called Pensiunea Bradul Inalt. http://www.bradulinalt.ro/
